Creating A Glint

"He was like a blast of speed through the town, but everywhere he went, every life he touched, was instantly the better for it."

Introduction to the Glint Type

Typically, Glints are the spokesperson, the face, perhaps the bard of a group. They are the ones who inspire, manipulate, and speak for a group. On their own, they can usually make due for themselves, but with a group, their support can often be the difference between life and death. They may no wield the large weapons of the Glaive, or the massive internal powers of the Nano, or even the versatility of a Jack, but no one supports or fast-talks as well as a Glint.

Glints focus on Intellect first, and speed second, and will avoid conflict when they can, preferring to talk their way out of situations when they can (although they can hold their own when they wish). In most cases, Glints are the hubs around which society turns. They are often leaders, diplomats, merchants, and the like.

Tier One Setup

Choose Your Background

Glint Origins fit one of the following three backgrounds. This will not only give a bit of direction to your personal story, but will also impact how you earn XP and describe your Tier advancement.

  • Genetics
    • Simply put, you were born this way. The skills came to you directly through genetic predisposition, be it through an ancestor being modified, natural evolution, or the like.
    • Advancement: You may not know the overall source of your powers, but you also don't know their limits. Advancement comes from trial and error. Push yourself. Try new things. Accept no boundaries.
  • Enhancement
    • Not everything is as it seems. You have made yourself this way, be it through cybernetics, chemical experimentation, numenera implantation, and the like.
    • Advancement: Your abilities are increase during the standard maintenance, and eventual upgrade, of the enhancements to your body.
  • Training and Experience
    • You had plenty of talent and ability, naturally, but you shone after being taken on by a professional, a mentor, someone who could show you the ropes.
    • Advancement: Most advancement needs the attention of your current mentor, or perhaps an even greater one, to lead you along the path of greater power and knowledge.
